JTB Sunrise tours booking for you by JTB in London are operated by JTB Global Marketing and Travel Inc. in Tokyo (hereinafter referred to as “GMT”).
Here is a summary of the conditions relevant to the traveller(s) taking JTB Sunrise tours.

1. Contract

1. Responsibility rests with the company operating Agent-Organised tours: JTB Global Marketing & Travel Inc. (GMT) Address 2-3-11 Higashi-shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo 140-8604, Commissioner of Japan Tourism Agency Registered Travel Agent No.1723
2. GMT shall arrange and manage tour arrangements and itinerary management so that the client receives tour services including transport/accommodations (hereinafter referred to as “tour services”) provided by transportation/accommodation operators during the tour itinerary set by GMT.
3. The content and conditions of the Travel Contract shall confirm to those specified in each tour itinerary, the conditions specified hereunder, and the final itinerary handed to clients before departure.

2. Conditions

1. A client under 20 years of age travelling alone during the tour period shall provide GMT with the written consent of his/her guardian. Clients under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2. Clients who require special attention from GMT during the tour for reason of chronic disease, general ill health, pregnancy or physical handicap, shall advise GMT of this when applying for the tour. GMT shall comply with such requests to the extent deemed feasible and reasonable. And if GMT takes a special arrangement in compliance with the client’s request, the client shall be responsible for incurred expenses related with the request. GMT may require clients to present a medical certificate. GMT may refuse a client’s application if conditions at travel destinations and facilities are such that safe, smooth tour operation cannot be guaranteed, or require the client to be accompanied by an escort. In some cases, GMT shall change a part of the itinerary or recommend the client to join another tour with the minimum extra charge or refuse his/her participation in the tour.
3. Independent activities of the client’s own choosing shall not be arranged by GMT during the tour. However, GMT may, depending on the tour, arrange such activities under separate conditions.

3. Contract document and Final Tour Itinerary

1. After the client has entered into a Travel Contract with JTB Europe Ltd., the brochures and the tour conditions listed here shall be included in the Travel Contract.
2. Unless specified in the Travel Contract, GMT shall submit a written contract stating tour itinerary, details of the services, other tour conditions and GMT’s responsibility to the clients, no later than one day prior to tour departure date.

4. Tour Fare

1. Clients 12 years of age or more shall be charged adult fare and those aged 6 to 11 shall be charged child fare unless otherwise specified. One child of five years of age or less can join a tour free of charge with an adult, but will receive no services such as meals or bed. If more than one child under five, child fare will be charged for each additional child five years of age or less. This does not apply to tours for which infant fare is quoted.

5. Services included

The following may include items unrelated to the tours you choose. Please note that the items included in the tour fare are only those specified in your itinerary.
In principle, GMT will not make refunds for the below services even if clients choose not to use the relevant services.

Hotel Rooms Rooms with private shower on a twin room basis (two-in-a-room) at the hotels specified in each itinerary except where stated as otherwise on the tour itinerary. A client travelling alone is requested to book a single room for tours including accommodation. Triple room, where requested, may be provided as a twin room with one extra bed added.
Meals Meals will be served as specified in each itinerary.
Trains JR Shinkansen: Tours listing First class shall be operated by Green Car. Other categories will be operated by Tourist class.
JR Limited Express: When used in our tours, tourist class reserved seats will be arranged.
Other Railways: When operated by subway or local trains, no reserved seats will be provided. Where Limited Express is used, tourist class reserved seats will be provided unless specified as a non-reserved seat.
Sightseeing & Excursions By sedan, van, taxi, motorcoach and/or sightseeing boat on a vehicle-sharing basis, including admission fees to temples, shrines, museums etc. mentioned in each itinerary. A minibus, sedan or taxi may be used when the total number of participants is limited. Vehicle-sharing sightseeing tours for Japanese tourists are used for some tours.
Transfers Transfers will be arranged by motorcoach. A sedan, van or taxi may be used if the total number of participants is small.
Baggage Transfer and handling of one normal-sized baggage (up to 50cm x 60cm x 120cm) per person where specified in the itinerary. However, at certain times and places this service is not included owing to limited capacity on trains and/or ships and the unavailability of porters at station, hotel and/or airport.
Guide services English-speaking guide and assistant service will be provided as listed under the “guide service” column for each tour.
Gratuities Gratuities to hotel workers, porters and chauffeurs are included.

6. Services not included in the tour price

Charges and expenses other than those provided in the preceding Article, such as:
1. Laundry, telephone, additional meals and drinks, and any other expenses of a personal nature.
2. Airport departure taxes.
3. Excess baggage.
4. Tour fares for optional tours requested by customers
5. Medical expenses for injury or illness.
6. Travel and accommodation costs between arrival/departure and the start and end points of the itinerary.

7. Itinerary amendment

GMT may, after conclusion of the Travel Contract, revise its contents and services for any of the following reasons: natural calamity or disaster, civil unrest, suspension of services rendered by transport/accommodation facilities, provision of transportation not based on the original operational plan, government orders, or other circumstances beyond GMT’s control. GMT reserves the right to take necessary measures when safe, smooth tour operation in accordance with the itinerary is deemed impossible, or where there is valid reason to believe that the tour cannot continue. In such cases, GMT must explain in a timely manner its inability to perform the Travel Contract under the circumstances. However, this explanation may be made after revisions are made when conditions demand.

8. Cancellation by you

If a client cancels the Travel Contract, the following cancellation rates will apply to the tour fare.
Cancellation notice should be received at our office during working hours Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30. “Days” below refers to working days, eg. “4 days prior” means notice received up to 17:30 on the 4th working day before the date of the tour or excursion.
A: Tours including accommodation:

25 days or more prior to the start date no charge (full refund)
24-10 days prior to the start date 20% of the tour fare
10-4 days prior to the start date 30% of the tour fare
4-3 days prior to the start date 40% of the tour fare
prior to the start time of the tour 50% of the tour fare
no show at the start time of the tour 100% of the tour fare

B: Transfer services:

10 days or more prior to the start date no charge (full refund)
10-4 days prior to the start date 10% of the tour fare
4-3 days prior to the start date 40% of the tour fare
on the date of service or no show 100% of the tour fare

C: Other JTB Sunrise tours:

10 days or more prior to the start date no charge (full refund)
10-4 days prior to the start date 30% of the tour fare
4-3 days prior to the start date 40% of the tour fare
prior to the start time of the tour 50% of the tour fare
no show at the start time of the tour 100% of the tour fare

9. Cancellation by JTB GMT

In any of the following cases, GMT may cancel the Travel Contract:
a. When it becomes evident that the client does not satisfy the gender, age, qualification or other requirements specified by GMT for participation in the tour.
b. When the client is recognised as unfit to join the tour owing to illness or for other reasons.
c. When the minimum number of participants as stipulated by GMT in the Travel Contract has not been met. In such cases, GMT will notify the client of tour cancellation no later than the 13th day (3rd day for a 1-day tour) prior to the eve of departure.
d. When the necessary conditions as clearly stated at the conclusion of the Travel Contract cannot materialise, such as insufficient snowfall for ski tours, or when there is valid reason to believe that the required conditions cannot be met.
e. In the event of a natural calamity or disaster, poor weather conditions, civil disturbance, suspension of services related to transportation, accommodation etc., government orders or other circumstances beyond GMT’s control, and when safe, smooth tour operation according to the itinerary specified in the Travel Contract has become impossible, or there is a valid reason to believe that the tour cannot continue.
When GMT cancels a tour for any of the above reasons, the full amount of the tour fare (or deposit paid) will be refunded.
Cancellation after departure
1. Cancellation by client
1. When the client leaves the tour group for personal reasons, GMT will consider it a forfeiture of contracted rights and claims to any refund.
2. If certain services cannot be provided as stated in the Travel Contract for reasons beyond GMT’s responsibility, relevant portions of the contract may be cancelled and a partial refund made.
3. In the above case, GMT will refund the client the relevant portion of the tour fare for services that have become unavailable. However, if the unavailability is beyond GMT’s control, GMT will refund the relevant portion of the tour fare for the tour services unavailable from which the cancellation charges, penalties and other costs already paid or to be paid are already deducted.
2. Cancellation by GMT
1. GMT may cancel the Travel Contract after the tour departure in the following cases:
a) when the client is unable to continue the tour owing to illness or other factors
b) when the tour cannot continue owing to natural disaster, weather conditions, civil unrest, labour disputes, suspension of services by transportation or accommodation facilities, government orders or other causes beyond GMT’s control.
If GMT cancels the Travel Contract in accordance with the above, travel services rendered to the client shall be deemed as having been completed, and a refund from the tour fare shall be paid for services not yet rendered. In cases where travel services are not rendered due to tour cessation, or services for which GMT has paid (or will pay) expenses, cancellation charge, penalty etc, GMT will refund only the balance thereof.
When GMT cancels the Travel Contract in accordance with the above, GMT shall, at the client’s expense, make necessary arrangements as requested for return to the point of departure.

Liability of client

1. GMT shall require the client to indemnify GMT for losses sustained owing to a client’s willful negligence, fault, conduct against public order and good manners, or breach of provisions in GMT’s Organised Tour Contract.
2. The client is required to make every effort to use information provided by GMT and to understand his/her responsibilities as well as the detail of tour conditions.
3. After the start of the tour, should the client find that the tour service provided is different from that specified in the tour contract, the clients shall be required to promptly advise the discrepancy to the tour conductor, English-speaking guide, English-speaking assistant or to GMT.
4. GMT may take necessary measures if a client needs treatment during the tour due to illness or injury. In the case GMT is not responsible for the cause of the illness or injury, the client shall bear all costs for said measures and must make payment by the means and date designated by GMT.

10. Itinerary booking guarantee – compensation

Should major changes occur in Travel Contract contents as stated in the left-hand column of the table below, GMT will calculate the compensation to be paid as indicated refund accordingly within 30 days of the end of the tour.

GMT shall not pay compensation for changes when they occur for the following reasons:
a) Bad weather and natural disasters which hinder the tour itinerary
b) War
c) Civil unrest
d) Government orders
e) Suspension of services involving transportation, accommodation etc., such as cancellation, interruption, cessation etc.
f) Provision of transport services different from the original schedule, owing to delays or changes in operation schedules.
g) Necessary measure to prevent tour participant death or bodily harm.
GMT shall not pay compensation if the client is able to receive tour services even when the order of such services differs from that stated in the tour brochure.

11. Others

1. The clients shall pay the expenses incurred when he or she asks for the personal accompaniment of a tour conductor for such purposes as guiding or shopping, costs arising from client injury or illness, the return of lost baggage articles left behind as a result of personal negligence, as well as changes incurred by independent activity.
2. The client shall accept all responsibility for personal purchases at souvenir shops even when said shops are introduced by GMT. GMT shall not assist the customer in the exchange or return etc. of any purchases.
3. These terms and conditions are subject to change to the JTB Travel Contract and governed and construed by the laws of Japan.
4. Tokyo District Court shall handle all disputes arising form the interpretation and performance of these Terms and Conditions.
